Mr. Jingeling Song
Many who grew up watching the Mr. Jingeling Show on television, or visited him on Halle’s 7th floor, undoubtedly recall the Mr. Jingeling Song. This catchy jingle originated in 1956 with music and lyrics by Marian Jacobi. Interestingly, although everyone remembers the words “… on Halle’s seventh floor, we’ll be looking for, you to turn the key,” the original version was slightly different. Instead, the first two lines were, “Mister Jingeling, how you ting-a-ling, Keeper of the Keys | Does old Santa know, how you’re on the go, and how hard you try to please?” After it was written, the decision was made to incorporate Halle’s into the lyrics as a way to better promote the Halle Bros. Department Store and the toys on it’s famous “7th Floor.”

Song Lyrics Verse One
Mister Jingeling, how you ting-a-ling
Keeper of the Keys
Does old Santa know
How you’re on the go
And how hard you try to please?
Keeping track of Santa’s pack
And Treasure House of Toys
And wind-up things that Santa brings
To all the little girls and boys.
Mister Jingeling, how you ting-a-ling
With your many keys,
Don’t you dare be late
For we have a date
Underneath the Christmas trees.
Song Lyrics Verse Two
Mister Jingeling, how you ting-a-ling
In your costume green,
Each key on your chain
tells a story plain
About the Christmas scene.
What a laugh when the giraffe
Found a key upon the couch!
He gave it to a kangaroo
Whose baby slipped it in her pouch.
Mister Jingeling, how you ting-a-ling
And the tales you tell
As you unlock the doors
and stock all the stores
Everyone knows all is well.
